Tokyo Bound

Benny loves to play in dirt!

A few days ago I managed to stand on some thorns while walking barefooted along a beach. Yesterday, Sunday, I had to pay a visit to the local hospital to have the "foreign bodies" cut out. Today I am in pain! However it has been seen to and the discomfort will pass.

I am Tokyo bound Sunday night for a first visit to Japan. I am very excited about the prospect the only downside being Luna & Benny are not coming: we had less money than I thought! I need to collect my telescope which is being repaired there. I would rather pay a little bit more and have a few days in Tokyo than get stung for a considerable sum of duty as would happen if the repaired scope was mailed to me.

School is virtually over this year. Phew!

The Last Few Days

I am delighted to tell you that my telescope arrived in Japan and that my new camera arrived safely from the US. Phew! On the down side I think I got ripped off big on a TV repair and may have paid a lot of money for a set of wires. In the great scheme of things I'll suffer the loss as I stood to lose considerably more had my scope and camera gone missing. It really is unusual in Ratchaburi to be ripped off, but whatever, I am going to take it on the chin.
A Ratchaburi landscape

Alas I am getting to that age where things go wrong. I had a few anxious moments over the weekend by virtue of a small, tender lump in one of my testicles. As I learned this morning from the urologist the lump was on the "pipe" as opposed the testicle proper and was an oedema, treatable by meds. So no need to worry about testicular cancer! Phew 2! The internet allows immediate access to all manner of information about symptoms and ailments so with little ado I had persuaded myself I had testicular cancer especially as in childhood I distinctly recall having an ascending testicle!

As you can see above Benny is having a great time with the chocolate ice cream. I could hardly resist this shot of a monkey and its baby.

How Time Flies!

As you can see, my dear readers, Benedict is a beautiful boy and his mother is equally beautiful too. It has been some time since I posted here. We are still here and still enjoying life in Thailand. We are just incredibly busy people! Looks like we will be here for the forseable future too which is no bad thing. Thailand remains a great place to live. Work has been difficult but I am hoping things will get better next year. Benedict remains a joy though I am not sure "joy" was on my mind when I caught him poring a cup of tea over my Notebook on Wednesday night. Alas the notebook is dead and I had to buy a new one, a very cool MacBook Pro and it is a beauty! I just didn't want the expense right now but the one Benedict destroyed had done me very well over the last 4 years and was nearing the end of its natural life.

Right now I am a little bit on edge. I had to send my telescope to Japan for a repair and I am very worried it might not arrive. I should know tomorrow if it has reached its destination. Tracking says it has already arrived in Tokyo so presumably it will be delivered tomorrow. My concern is that the package is opened and the contents switched. So maybe some book will arrive. I am also awaiting delivery of a camera from the US and tracking shows it reached Bangkok on Thursday ..... I could lose a fortune here and my tools for birding and photography could snatched from me. So I will be a lot more relaxed when I got confirmation.

I'll try and add a bit more here in the next few weeks. Hope you are all well.
